LAKELAND ADVENTURE
In this article: Lakeside Lodges | Boat Tripping | Erne Stay & Boat Giveaway | The Adventure Continues…
BASECAMP, LAKESIDE…
If you’ve been to Enniskillen, it’s likely you’ve caught a glimpse of the Killyhevlin Hotel on the way into town - the bright, crisp white and slate-roofed building surrounded in greenery is just about visible from the main road.
While the main 4* hotel has a lot to offer, for this adventure our minds were on something special just ‘out the back’…
KILLYHEVLIN LAKESIDE LODGES
Refurbished just last year, our home for a few days was one of Killyhevlin’s beautiful lakeside lodges.
With two en-suite bedrooms (king + twin), fully integrated kitchen, living space and an external decked area with seating and parasol, we could easily spend a fortnight here.
It even has WiFi if you need a quick fix.
We tried not to though.
AND they’re pet friendly.
*Max wasn’t actually able to come on this one. Pre-booked elsewhere. The life of an Adventure Dog, eh? So just a Photoshopped image for demonstration purposes. The scale is just about right.
:)
EATS AND DRINKS
With a few ‘day activities’ planned, we saved a bit of time (and money) by eating-in each night.
With views like this, wouldn’t you?
(Maybe you will…more on that later 👍)
Night 1 was a Tesco Indian meal deal that we grabbed in Enniskillen earlier in the day. Grand total of a tenner including wine.
Night 2 was a ‘bit of everything’ that we had brought with us; a selection of meats, cheese, breads, olives plus a few local favourites - Broighter Gold Rapeseed & Garlic Oil, Abernethy Butter, Achill Island Sea Salt and Florentines from Joy’s Artisan Foods (St George’s Market).
TO THE WATER
The other thing a few of the lodges have - a jetty!
And kindly provided by Mark from Erne Boat Hire Limited, our mighty vessel for exploring the lakeland county.
Nice colour choice :)
A quick tutorial and we were off…
