ARMOY PIT STOP
STOP, THERE'S A BROWN SIGN
With an important deadline hanging over us later that night (the Victoria Square Christmas lights switch-on in Belfast, obviously), today we opted against the favourable coastal route to the north coast. Instead, we head up the the M2, departing at Ballymena and following the road signs to Ballycastle.
A few miles along Drones Road, we spot the good old "Oi, tourist!" brown road sign and opt for a quick stop at the small town of Armoy.
A quiet little town nestled in between two of Antrim's nine glens (Glenshesk and Glentaisie) - and just two miles east The Dark Hedges - Armoy's old church and ancient round tower are worth a visit on your route north.
A quick read of the info sign tells us just how ancient the tower is (very ancient) and also of how a leper's foot was once found there.

In typical Northern Ireland fashion, the weather was changing every five minutes. In between rain-dodging, we spent an hour nosing around the old graves checking out the surrounding River Bush pathways and [in Tom Cruise Mission Impossible style] clambering up for a look inside the old tower.
Soon enough though the rain seemed to be on for good - a quick dash back to the car and we were on the road north again to our destination for the day - Kinbane Head. Let's get artsy with a few more pics first though...
