GET OUT, SWITCH OFF, CREATE YOUR ADVENTURE

GET OUT, SWITCH OFF, CREATE YOUR ADVENTURE

If you’ve followed us for a while, you’ll be well used to reading those words…

While this Coronavirus lockdown will restrict how far afield we can go, our message stays the same.

It’s important we all focus on making our own adventures this next while, for both our own minds and those around us.

Make a plan for the week ahead, then start each day with a reminder of what you’d like to do...

O U T D O O R S

Get a short walk planned into your daily routine right away (if you can). If it’s dry in the morning, get out, just in case the rain comes later. Stay LOCAL to where you live (don’t drive somewhere), keep the eyes up, avoid walking into someone else’s path. Give a smile and a nod to others - you might be their only contact today.

Look out for things you wouldn’t normally take notice of (anyone spotted all the rainbow drawings in windows recently?).

And while you’re out, leave your phone behind so you’re not tempted to take a pic or scroll. You need screen breaks to properly relax, clear the head.

Pack your day with other things (we’ll come to that) so you’re not relying on ‘Breaking News’ for a hit.

Turn off your notifications apart from calls. Just do replies/have a social flick 2/3 times a day.

Plug in your phone charger away from your bed - give yourself an hour before checking your phone in the morning, an hour before going to sleep.

A D V E N T U R E

Adventure is making the most of getting from A to B. Currently, we don’t have the joy of going from one location to another – so for now, it’s about getting from this point in time to when some sort of normality resumes.

Let’s do things we always said we’d do, or we used to love. Grab pen and paper, make a big list. A simple game of exy ozys (noughts and crosses?), dots and boxes, charades, hide and seek, draw your lockdown-mates’ portrait, build a bedroom fort, put the tent up in your living room, cook something new…

Please do give this post a share if you find it useful. We’ve asked our followers on social media for ideas of activities - so check out the replies to this post (look out for the lead pic).

Stay Safe. Stay at Home.

Everyone up for a big Northern Ireland / Ireland road trip when this is all done?

Note: Pics taken just before lockdown, when focus was on social distancing and we found a small beach to ourselves. We’ll share the location, etc. when normal service resumes. We can all enjoy these views again soon, in person 👍
